More About Our Cosmetic Dental Procedures and Services
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental procedure for many of our patients. While it seems like there is always another whitening product appearing on the market, not all provide predictable, high quality results.
Our office has selected the popular and highly effective Sapphire Professional Whitening In-Office System for our patients. This in-office, chair-side system has been clinically proven to whiten teeth up to 7 shades in only an hour, and over 3 shades in just 30 minutes. It is safe and formulated specifically to prevent sensitivity.
In addition, to enhance your in-office results (or as a cost effective alternative to in-office whitening), we will provide you with Venus White custom take-home whitening trays. This take home kit may also be used for your occasional whitening touch-ups for a long-lasting, dazzling smile. Visit www.tryavenussmile.com to give yourself an online Venus virtual smile makeover! Who else but Dr. Chincheck could provide you with this valuable treatment at an affordable cost?
Crowns and Veneers
A crown is often the best method for protecting a broken or damaged tooth. Crowns can be utilized to:
- Protect a weak tooth from decay
- Hold together parts of cracked tooth
- Restore an already broken or severely worn down tooth
- Hold a bridge in place
- Cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn't a lot of tooth left
- Cover misshapen or severely discolored teeth
- Cover a dental implant
There are many different types of crowns available. Depending on your specific treatment plan, we may use precious metal, porcelain fused to metal, or all-porcelain crowns. Because costs and materials vary, we'll make sure we talk to you about all of your options, as well as the expected life span of your crown.
How long a crown lasts depends on a variety of personal factors, including the amount of "wear and tear" the crown is exposed to, how well you follow good preventive hygiene practices, and your personal mouth-related habits (you should avoid such habits as grinding or clenching your teeth, chewing ice, biting your fingernails, or using your teeth to open packaging).
Veneers are another common cosmetic procedure. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain, which is bonded over the surface of a tooth to improve the shape or color of a tooth or to protect a damaged tooth surface. Veneers are contact-lens thin, and require minimal removal of enamel. They are the perfect choice for the correction of a variety of dental conditions including:
- Tooth discoloration
- Noticeable gaps
- Permanent stains
- Broken or misshapen teeth
Porcelain veneers are a popular procedure both for patients looking for a slight cosmetic enhancement of their smile and those seeking dramatic cosmetic results.
Invisalign
Invisalign is the leading alternative to traditional braces, allowing patients to achieve terrific results in a shorter period of time, without a mouthful of metal and wires. Invisalign braces consist of a series of clear plastic forms that gently coax misaligned teeth into the correct position. They can be removed for eating as well as proper brushing and flossing.
Invisalign can be used to correct crowded, gapped or rotated teeth. Dr. Chincheck will formulate a treatment plan that, if followed by the patient, should correct teeth within a year to eighteen months. This method of correction is especially popular with our adult patients who have experienced tooth shifting after previous braces as a teen. This method creates dazzling smiles without the irritation and embarrassment of traditional metal braces.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
Having a great smile is not just about beauty, but also about having a "fully functional" mouth. Your teeth, gums, joints and muscles should all be working together for health, longevity and comfort. Great function leads to beauty.
Full mouth reconstruction starts with a comprehensive exam to determine what procedures are needed to bring your mouth back to a state of full health and long term functionality. As a first step, periodontal issues are addressed, ensuring that your gum tissue becomes healthy and that you have enough bone to support a healthy set of teeth.
Crowns, veneers, implants and bridges can be utilized, as well as corrective measures to bring all teeth into proper alignment so that the bite is in harmony with your jaw joint and muscles for increased longevity and comfort. This creates a smile you can be proud of.
We take the extra time with each of our patients to ensure they know all of their options and together create a customized treatment plan that works best for them.
Implants
Dental implants are a two-part process: first, the surgery to place the actual "implant" in the gums/bone is performed, and then the restoration (crown) is placed on top of the steel implant. In our offices, Dr. Chincheck does restorations only, creating a natural look and a solid bite surface.
Dr. Chincheck works closely with select specialists coordinating the surgical phase of the implant process. This ensures that the implant is placed properly and that the gum forms naturally around the tooth. Dr. Chincheck has established partnerships with trusted periodontists and oral surgeons who are best trained to place the implants, and follows up with patients herself by finishing the case with provisionals or final restorations in our office.
Bonding
A chipped tooth or deep cavity in a front tooth can make an otherwise attractive smile unsightly. Bonding allows chips, breaks and discolorations to be concealed with natural looking composite material that bonds tightly to the tooth and matches the color and shine perfectly.
Repairing a chipped tooth generally requires no anesthesia, and consists of roughening the surface of the tooth before applying the bonding agent and curing it under a high intensity light. The process is not painful, and the bonded section will match the rest of your teeth, making it virtually impossible to tell you’ve had cosmetic work done.
