The Ultimate Level of Routine Dental Care:
Advanced Health and Hygiene

Comprehensive Exams

Comprehensive Exams

Our exams are about more than just your teeth. We conduct fully comprehensive dental exams that begin with an interview in a comfortable consultation room to fully understand your medical and dental history. We believe your oral health and overall health are linked, and your dental habits affect your total wellness. That’s why we check your gums, jaw, joints, bite, and your teeth, in addition to oral cancer screenings, we will take a full series of diagnostic digital photographs as well as digital x-rays. Dr. Chincheck is very thorough in her exams and is attentive to detail.

Patients routinely comment, with appreciation, “I’ve never had a dentist do such a thorough exam.”

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is serious, and early detection can impact your prognosis. As part of our preventive care, we offer thorough oral cancer screenings. Using visual and manual screening methods, Dr. Chincheck will examine your gums, tongue, cheeks, and other soft tissue of your mouth for any abnormalities. Additionally, we’re equipped with Vizilite technology, which uses a safe chemiluminescent light to aid in the identification of lesions and abnormalities. Tobacco, alcohol use, and HPV exposure are the primary lifestyle risk factors, though anyone can develop the disease, which makes screening vital for all patients, especially those over age 40.

X-Rays

X-Rays

As part of our commitment to provide the most advanced dentistry possible, we offer digital x-rays that reduce radiation exposure by up to 70%, while capturing sharp, high-resolution images of your teeth and bones. Digital x-rays are an excellent diagnostic tool, as we can rotate, magnify areas, adjust the contrast, and retain the images as a simple computer file, meaning we can easily share your images with specialists. No more waiting for film – digital x-rays can be read during your appointment!

Hygiene

Hygiene

Plaque and tartar buildup can wreak havoc on your smile, which is why regular visits to your dental hygienist are important. We employ Cavitron magnetoscritive scalers to remove any debris from the surface of your teeth and in hard-to-reach areas that brushing and flossing may miss. A proactive measure for warding off gum disease and gingivitis, as well as making your smile feel great and sparkle, our hygiene visits are essential to your oral health. Maintaining your smile at home is crucial, so we’re happy to show you the best methods for cleaning your teeth and help you develop healthy habits as part of your daily routine.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal Therapy

Healthy gums are part of a beautiful smile. During our comprehensive exams, we’ll review your periodontal health and assess your risk of gum disease, one of the leading causes of adult tooth loss. Plaque, a sticky, colorless film, can develop on your teeth, and bacteria can form. If plaque isn’t removed effectively, it can harden into tartar and cause swollen, bleeding gums and receding gum lines. We use root planing and scaling to remove plaque and tartar from the gum line and if you have exposed root surfaces, we’ll use GLUMA desensitizer to reduce any unwanted cold or touch sensitivity. For patients with moderate to severe gum disease, we prescribe Arestin, a medication which improves gum pocket depth and restores a balance of healthy bacteria to your mouth. We will formulate a home care regimen specific to your needs.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride Treatments

If your teeth are feeling extra sensitive, you don’t have the benefit of fluorinated water, or, if you’ve become more prone to decay due to diet, acid reflux, and, or, dry mouth, we offer fluoride treatment for both adults and children. Fluoride restores essential minerals to the tooth enamel, adding a barrier against decay and protecting the dentin layer from exposure to changing temperatures and other sensitivities. Children’s developing teeth also need the extra protection of regular fluoride treatments to help them grow into strong, healthy smiles. We provide fluoride treatments as needed, and for patients who need extra protection, we’re happy to prescribe a prescription-strength toothpaste, either Fluoridex or Clinpro, to strengthen enamel and ward off decay.

Mouthguards

Mouthguards

Protecting your smile is an important part of your oral health. We are happy to provide custom-fit mouthguards for patients who suffer from bruxism, more commonly known as nighttime grinding. These night guards, also termed, occlusal guards, help keep the jaw in the correct position and reduce wear and tear from inadvertent grinding while you sleep. In addition, for those suffering from TMJ or TMD pain, Dr. Chincheck will fabricate a highly customized Splint Therapy for relief of occluso-muscle pain.We also offer pre-fabricated Under Armour Mouth Protection for child athletes to wear during sports and other activity.

Anesthesia (Numbing)

Anesthesia (Numbing)

Your comfort is important to us, which is why we take local anesthesia to the next level. Should you undergo a procedure which requires anesthesia, we have several options to make the whole process alot easier. For patients who are nervous about dental work, we offer light oral sedation, which is a simple medication taken prior to your appointment. You’ll feel calm and relaxed, and we’ll have time to work. If you dislike swallowing pills, we also offer nitrous oxide, which is an inhaled gas that provides similar sedation to the pill, but wears off quickly once the gas is turned off.

Prior to local anesthesia, we use a buffering agent, OnSet, to make the absorption of the anesthetic into the tissue more comfortable for our patients. This eliminates the sting of the injection and expedite the time it takes to feel numbness. After your treatment, we can use OraVerse to rapidly diminish the anesthetic effects. This allows you to return to normal activities in about half the time as if you waited for the anesthesia to wear off.

Technology

Technology

To ensure the best dental restorations, we rely on digital scans of your teeth rather than the traditional rubbery impressions. Dr. Chincheck was one of the first offices in the region to use Cadent iTero technology and has expertly used this technology for more than 7 years. She recognizes how it has improved the standard of care for necessary crown and bridge measurements and is happy to offer her patients a more comfortable procedure. Instead of a mouthful of messy putty, the iTero technology uses a handheld wand, in which only the tip touches your teeth. The images create an exact replica of your mouth, guaranteeing the best fit for crowns, bridges and other restorations.
